Pet Weight & Vessel Sizing

Category: Composting Science Research Date: April 11, 2026 Status: Verified

Weight distribution analysis for companion animals, mapped to Jora JK400 chamber capacity and carbon-to-nitrogen ratio requirements by animal size tier.

This document provides the scientific and logistical validation for pet processing weight cutoffs, vessel selection, and the "Standardized Return" model. It replaces all previous DIY barrel research with the Joraform Commercial Standard.

1. Pet Weight Distribution & Cutoffs

Based on AVMA and AAHA breed weight data, our service levels are designed to capture the maximum addressable market while staying within the thermodynamic efficiency limits of a single processing vessel.

Tier Weight Cutoff Market Coverage Vessel Assignment
Tiny <10 lbs 35% JK270 (Dual Chamber)
Small/Medium 10–30 lbs 40% JK400 (Dual Chamber)
Large 30–40 lbs 13% JK400 (Full Capacity)

Operational Cutoff: 40 lbs. Pets over 40 lbs require excessively large vessels (Jora JK5100 or custom) and significantly longer cycle times. By capping at 40 lbs, we keep the "1 operator" mission profile intact.

2. The Joraform Advantage (Thermal Efficiency)

The JK400 and JK270 series utilize a dual-chamber, insulated galvanized steel body.

3. The 1.5 Cubic Foot "Standardized Return"

Legacy Soil & Stone has moved away from variable return volumes. For every pet processed (Tiny through Large), the customer receives a standardized return.

3.1 Handling the "Excess" Life (The Unconditional Forest)

Because a 40 lb dog + bulking agent can yield up to 2.5 cubic feet of soil, a surplus is generated.

4. Standardized Cedar Memorial Planter

To match the 1.5 cubic foot return, the LSS Memorial Planter is now standardized to a single, high-end design:
